SYDNEY: The NSW Government has introduced a new compulsory QR (quick-response) check-in system for use in cafés, restaurants, gyms, pools and a number of other businesses.
The aim is to ensure a better system of contact tracing, after a previous effort proved something close to a dud.
Organisations looking to introduce the new check-ins can use a privately-developed QR code system, but the NSW Government is encouraging them to use the a “Covid Safe” system provided by the Government.
Would-be users can keep their details stored via a Service NSW app on their mobile phone. So a simple tap of the phone should see you safely checked in with contact details held in the NSW Health contact tracing database for retrieval should the need arise.
Haven’t got a mobile phone? Tough…
