Online retail sales are on the rise Down Under, according to the latest figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

Stats’ figures for October show online retail contributed 6.5 percent to Australia’s total retail turnover during the month. That compares with just 5.9% in October last year.

This rise came despite overall retail expenditure remaining unchanged in October.

Observers expect online retail to show a more dramatic rise in November and December, due to shoppers embracing promotions including Black Friday and Cyber Monday events.
