Film distributor Paramount will be upgrading their home theatre releases to make the most of modern audio technology, with select Blu-rays to be equipped with DTS: X audio soundtracks.

The first four home theatre releases to support the feature will be “Daddy’s Home,” “The Big Short,” “Zoolander No. 2” and “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot”.

According to Edward Hoxsie, senior VP of Paramount Pictures, “Working with DTS, a leading contributor in sound innovation, allows us to deliver a great consumer experience with audio technology that enables the immersive audio our feature content deserves”

Those looking to test the feature will require a compatible soundbar or A/V receiver.

Other distributors like Fox and Universal have also began to offer DTS-enabled Blu-ray audio earlier this year.
