Qualcomm has launched a number of new Snapdragon chipsets, most of which offer modest updates to several of the mid-tier chipsets in the Snapdragon 7xx, 6xx, and 4xx series.

These include three 5G-ready mobile platforms — Snapdragon 778G Plus 5G, Snapdragon 695 5G, and Snapdragon 480 Plus 5G — plus the Snapdragon 680, which only has 4G connectivity.

The release of these updates, during what is usually mid-cycle for Qualcomm’s usual chip rollouts, is part of a plan to keep its current lineup up-to-date while the semiconductor shortage rages on. These chipsets will further increase the company’s stock in the mid-range market.

“These four new additions to our roadmap create a significant opportunity for our OEM customers and provide additional options to continue to meet the growing demand for our 5G and 4G mobile platforms,” explained Deepu John, senior director of product management at Qualcomm.
