Samsung’s HW-K950 Dolby Atmos-enabled soundbar, designed to deliver immersive moving audio, has landed in the Australian market.

The HW-K950, measuring in at 5.3 cm high and sporting a slim and sleek design, is decked out with 15 speakers, including four upward-firing Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers, along with two rear wireless speakers.

Its design employs three forward-facing and two upwards-facing channels, producing “a rich, full sound that is big enough to fill the room, and detailed enough to deliver realistic audio, from a comet shooting across the room to a helicopter hovering overhead”.

“Whether listening to music, movies, TV shows or playing video games, Samsung’s proprietary Surround Sound Expansion Plus will ensure Australians enjoy multi-dimensional sound at home,” Samsung states.

The HW-K950 connects wirelessly to its paired subwoofer and the rear speakers, with Samsung stating that it helps “to remove the need for ceiling-fitted speakers to achieve moving audio overhead”.

“The HW-K950 offers an immersive Dolby Atmos sound experience in the home, and will challenge what Australians expect from home entertainment,” Carl Rose, Samsung Electronics Australia vice president, consumer electronics, commented.

“By pairing the HW-K950 with a Samsung SUHD TV and UBD-K8500 UHD Blu-ray player, Samsung is looking to set a new standard for the premium home cinema experience.”
