“Lifestyle audio” brand Skullcandy has released its answer to Apple’s popular AirPods.

The Skullcandy Indy ($179.99) earbuds offer true wireless audio for up to 4 hours, with an additional 12 hours coming via the included charging case.

Skullcandy claim a Bluetooth range of around 10 metres and an IP55 rating for sweat, water and dust resistance.

Skullcandy chief product officer Jeff Hutchings said the Indy is for consumers looking to make the leap to true wireless.

“We’ve combined our wireless technology with a stylish shape and portability that gives our consumers a whole new level of freedom when it comes to experiencing their personal soundtrack.”

The Indy’s feature a similar bud and stem design to Apple’s AirPods, with touch controls for calls, music and volume control that can also summon the digital voice assistant of a connected device.

The Skullcandy Indy’s are now available in black, with red, blue and green colours to follow later in the year.
