Apple Co-founder Steve Wozniak has expressed his own views on the headphone jack-less future that the tech giant is heading for.
In an interview with the Australian Financial Review, Wozniak warned that “If it’s missing the 3.5mm earphone jack, that’s going to tick off a lot of people.”
He advised that modern Bluetooth is not an adequate substitute, at least for himself, saying “I would not use Bluetooth … I don’t like wireless. I have cars where you can plug in the music, or go through Bluetooth, and Bluetooth just sounds so flat for the same music.”
Mr Wozniak co-founded Apple together with Steve Jobs in the mid-1970s then left the company in 1985.
While countless leaks have suggested that the fate of the headphone jack is all but sealed, it’s still unclear at this time whether Apple’s efforts to replace it will pan out or lead to consumer backlash.
Some have suggested that plan to only support headsets through the device’s Lightning port might pave the way for Apple’s own entry into the wireless headphones market
Expect more news in the lead-up to Apple’s official unveiling of the handset in early September.
