Chinese display manufacturer TCL has taken on Samsung with its new range of affordable QLED 4K Roku smart TVs, all priced under US$1000.

Launched on Amazon US, the new TCL 6-Series includes a 55-inch model that starts at US$599 and a 65-inch version that will set you back US$799.

Australian pricing and availability is yet to be confirmed.

The 6-Series Roku TVs feature 4K UHD picture with QLED colour technology and Dolby Vision HDR.

Quantum dot display technology was first spearhead by Samsung, with its QLED line-up propelling its premium TV portfolio.

The TVs come with TCL’s Contrast Control Zone technology, which claims to optimise an image across individual zones to yield striking contrast between light and dark areas, as well as a AiPQ Engine, which uses machine-learning algorithms to optimise colour, contrast and clarity.

Roku’s award-winning TV smart platform offers seamless access to over 500,000 movies, TV shows and live sports.

Thousands of streaming channels are accessible through a simple, intuitive interface in a brushed metal design with a bezel-less FullView edge-to-edge glass display for a greater viewing experience.

For the gamers, the new QLED TCL TVs debut “Auto Game Mode”, which automatically enhances performance by offering the smoothest action, lowest latency and the best picture settings for gaming.

The remote has support for voice control and the TVs are compatible with both Alexa and Google Assistant.
