Telstra says it has invested in robotic process automation (RPA) technology on projects including its HFC network upgrade and the way it arranges training for cable 36,000 staff.

Indian outsourcer Wipro ran two projects for the telco, which it claims jointly saved Telstra more than $1.7 million by downsizing the number of staff needed to function.

Wipro also said it had worked with Telstra to aid the telco’s “mammoth task of migrating customers from its old cable network to the new network platform in the 61-day timeline committed to the National Broadband Network”.

Separately, Telstra said it has used Raytheon Professional Services to automate some of its back-office administration efforts involving the scheduling of training for its 36,000 staff worldwide.
