Telstra’s NBN service been named Australia’s fastest internet service provider (ISP) for streaming Netflix in January 2019, with the telco’s non-NBN service trailing in forth place.

It’s the first time Telstra has separated its non-NBN and NBN service, and was the only telco to do so.

Commentators question how results may differ when other telcos follow suit.

For the month of January, Netflix’s ISP Speed Index ranked Optus second, and Exetel third.

The index measures prime time Netflix performance across several ISPs.

TPG ranked fifth, trailed by iiNet and Dodo/iPrimus.

On a trend basis, speeds across the board have largely continued to improve, with Optus and Exetel reflecting the most improvement.

Despite incremental change, Dodo/iPrimus appear to be falling behind rivals.
