Australian ISP and telco TPG Telecom has purchased more spectrum in Singapore where it is moving to take on current mobile network operators SingTel, M1 and StarHub.

The Australian company bought two lots of 5MHz spectrum in the 2.5 GHz band at a recent spectrum auction in the city-state for $S23.8 million (A$22.5 million).

Founder and CEO David Teoh said the extra spectrum would enable the Australian company to enhance the value of the services it plans to offer to Singapore consumers.

TPG is planning for a September 2018 start to its Singapore operations. It has already set up a local office and has hired some staff.
