Smartphone component suppliers are forecasting increased demand for multi-lens camera modules, following the release of Huawei’s P20 Pro and its ‘world-first’ LEICA triple lens camera set-up.

According to Taiwanese trade publication, DigiTimes, several other Android smartphone makers (e.g. Oppo, HTC, Sony and Lenovo) are considering integrating multi-lens camera modules into their flagship devices.

Chinese-based Huawei will also reportedly integrate the P20 Pro’s triple lens set-up in other handsets.

As a result, suppliers are becoming increasingly concerned by the possibility of smartphone competition centred around multi-lens camera modules.

Demand is only set to soar should Californian-based Apple decide to follow suit.

Camera module supplier, Largan Precision, has forecast higher May revenues, driven by increased follow-up orders. The supplier has also increased its second-quarter earnings guidance.
