Complimenting previous reports about LG’s foldable smartphone, a recent patent submitted to the USPTO reveals an interesting twist – a built in ‘hand strap’.

Noticed by Mobiel Kopenthe design patent was submitted in March 2015 and published this week.

The patent alludes to a foldable phone with a hand strap on the rear of the device.

It’s thought the feature may prevent drops and facilitate a tighter grip,  especially useful given the foldable nature of the device.

The built-in hand strap may also prove useful for live streaming and recording videos.

However, the recent USPTO patent only describes design, not function.

LG’s foldable smartphone joins the likes of Apple and Samsung who are reportedly developing their own models.
