The hottest app on the block is the one banned by the tech giants. Just days after Google, Facebook and Apple purged right-wing conspiracy site Infowars from their sites, the Infowars app has become one of the hottest in the US.

Infowars is currently the No. 1 overall trending app on the Google Play store; while among news apps, Infowars was No. 3 on Apple and No. 5 on Google. That puts it above all apps from mainstream news organisations.

Researcher Sensor Tower says the app, which broadcasts news and shows by conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, is being downloaded up to 40,000 of times a day in the US.
