Microsoft has post a 12% YoY lift in Q2 revenue to US$32.5 billion, driven by strong sales from its commercial cloud, Surface and Xbox software division. Affected by a global chip shortage, Windows OEM revenue has dipped 5%.
For the quarter ending December 31, operating income jumped 18% YoY to US$10.3 billion, whilst diluted earnings per share notched US$1.08 GAAP and US$1.10 non-GAAP.
Personal computing revenue has climbed 7% year-on-year to US$13 billion, with revenues from its Surface division soaring 39% versus the same time last year.
Gaming revenues lift 8%, with a whopping 31% jump in Xbox software and services revenues.
The company’s commercial cloud revenue has soared 48% year-on-year to US$9 billion.
Office consumer products and cloud services revenue has remained relatively flat – climbing 1% YoY – with growth in Office 365 Consumer subscribers notching 33.3 million.Revenue from Office commercial products and cloud services climbed 11% YoY, driven by Office 365 commercial revenue growth of 34%.
