Last week Google confirmed that the new Android M will be officially released as Android 6.0 Marshmallow, which is expected to arrive on Android-powered smartphones and tablets by October 2015 in Australia.
Samsung’s list of devices that will receive the upgrade include the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Duos, Note 4, Note 4 Duos, Note Edge, Galaxy Alpha, and Galaxy Tab A.
Samsung has also revealed the new features that users of these devices will be able to enjoy after receiving the latest version of Google’s Android operating system.
According to Samsung, the Android 6.0 update to its devices will bring Marshmallow’s “App Permissions” feature, which will allow users to choose the information that can be accessed by the apps running on their devices. Another Android Marshmallow feature called “Memory tab” will allow users to track the apps consuming the maximum amount of memory in the devices.
The “Quick Fingerprint Access” feature will allow users of Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets to unlock their devices as well as make authorized purchases from Google Play Store. Also, a new power saving feature in Android Marshmallow will automatically activate the “Doze Mode”, which will reduce the number of processes running in the background after finding that the device is not in use for a long time, thus enhancing battery life.
