Current Minecraft boss Matt Booty has been promoted to vice president of Microsoft Studios, he will be in charge of looking after Microsoft’s relationships with various companies such as Mojang, Rare and Global Publishing.

GamesBeat says he will oversee developing and publishing Microsoft games on consoles, PC and mobile platforms. He will also oversee other executives who are responsible for franchises such as Halo and Minecraft.

Booty will report to Phil Spencer the executive vice president of games who oversees all gaming, gaming hardware and strategy for Microsoft.

According to GamesBeat, ‘The appointment fills a key post within the games group after Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella promoted Spencer to executive vice president in a strategic role overseeing all games, game hardware, and game platform strategy at Microsoft.’

Booty has been working with Microsoft since 2010.
