Following its unveiling last week, recent reports reveal the new MacBook Pro incorporates an improved ‘butterfly keyboard’, despite Apple’s refusal to announce a total fix.

With a faster processor and enhanced display, Apple claims the laptop features an “improved third-generation keyboard for quieter typing” and “additional updates”.

As previously reported, last month Apple acknowledged the ‘butterfly keyboard’ flaw in former Macbook models, offering free repairs for affected consumers.

Following several years of consumer complaints, the keyboard was criticised for trapping dust, resulting in dislodged or ‘sticky’ keys.

The Californian giant reportedly states its new Macbook Pro was not designed to solve such issues, whilst still utilising a butterfly mechanism.

However, in a tear-down by iFixit, analysts discovered a design change featuring a plastic film to protect dust/crumbs from entering keys.

Commentators are awaiting further consumer feedback – following increased sales – to determine whether design changes significantly improve performance.
