A new update for Google Maps will help users find their way around on public transport by letting them know when to get off the bus or train.

The app will guide users with real time updates and notifications so they will know how long until their journey ends.

Tech Crunch says what will be different with the update is when you look up a route on Google Maps there will be a start button giving details for the user’s journey and updating when on the trip. the added bonus is when Google Maps will alert users to get off the bus or train which will be handy for travellers or those prone to napping on transport.

A special feature for Android users is the journey can be seen on your lock screen so there is no need to keep the app open.

Google Maps has not revealed when the update is but most likely within the next couple of months.
