Google has announced that a Family Library feature is coming to Google Play.

The feature will enable up to six users to connect their accounts and share applications, videos and eBook content between one another for no additional cost.

It bears a striking resemblence to Apple’s own family sharing system, introduced back in 2014.

Like Apple’s service, one member of the plan is elected as the account holder with all purchases having to be confirmed by them before any transactions can be made. 

Parents using the plan will be able to configure what titles are and are not shared across cumulative media library, giving them more control over the content their children access.

The move builds on the company’s Google Music Family Share plan, which offers much of the same functionality for music content at $15 a month.

The system is expected to roll out over the next few months.
