Swedish camera company Hasselblad are partnering with drone manufacturer DJI to release a new package designed for commercial-grade aerial photography.
The package combines DJI’s M600 drone with Hasselblad’s A5D medium format camera.
According to Hasselblad CEO Perry Oosting, “Combining best-in-class aerial optics with the world’s most powerful aerial platform is a natural development for DJI and Hasselblad.”
It’s the first of several expected joint-ventures between the two companies born out of DJI’s investment in Hasselblad last year.
With sensors more sophisticated than high-end DSLR cameras and a 50mm lens, the A5D is well-suited for professional use.
It also features a sealed-body to keep out dust.
When combined with the M600, it will be able to transmit high definition video content from up to a 5-kilometre range.
No pricing has been announced but given the DJI M600 costs roughly $4,599 on its own, don’t expect the high-end package to come cheap.
