Chinese mobile company Huawei is partnering with credit card UnionPay International to bring out Huawei Pay globally.

Those who have Huawei and Honor mobile phone users outside of China can add their UnionPay bank cards to a phone that has enabled Huawei Pay and then placing their phone next to a POS machine that supports UnionPay mobile QuickPass.

Alex Zhang, President of Huawei Consumer Cloud Service, says, “Open sharing is an important direction for the future of the digital economy and intellectual interconnection, which is why Huawei’s end-user cloud services built an open and globalized smart mobile ecosystem for the end-user experience.”

Huawei Pay was created two years ago and is a similar payment system as Apple Pay and G Pay where it is exclusively for Huawei and Honor smartphone holders.

It will be available in Australia later this year.
