Product Safety Australia has issued a recall of Kmart’s Home & Co TL-136 ‘2 Slice Stainless Steel Toaster’, citing a risk of electric shock.

The regulator claims “some of the toasters” have a faulty switch, causing the device’s heating element to remain “live” even when turned off.

Consumers are at risk of electric shock if they make contact with the toaster’s heating element.

No other Kmart toasters are affected by the recall, and Product Safety Australia is urging consumers to immediately return their TL-136 toaster for a full refund.

For further information consumers can visit Product Safety Australia’s website, or contact Kmart’s Customer Service team online or on 1800 124 125 (Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm AEST).
