SEATTLE – Not taking enough tablets? Microsoft is reportedly working on a completely new digital notebook with the emphasis on good old-fashioned handwriting.

The device, to be called Andromeda, will be a folding “book” with a single-page display when unfolded, and able to act as both a tablet or an analogue notebook with optical character recognition (OCR) to translate your scrawls.

Windows Ink, which has been at the heart of recent W10 updates, will reportedly form the backbone of the Andromeda device.

It’s expected to be powered by Windows for ARM processors which are said to have multi-day battery life.
