Oculus has announced the latest model for its Virtual Reality headset range, the AUD$254 self-contained ‘Oculus Go’.

The product was revealed at the Oculus Connect 4 event in California and is a stand-alone product.

This means, that unlike other Oculus models, the Oculus Go does not require a PC or a smartphone to operate.

The Go will be a mid-range product, sitting between the Gear VR and the high-end Oculus Rift. The Go has a fast-switch LCD display with a 2560x1440pixel resolution and new mesh fabric headband is designed to conform to your face.

Mark Zuckerburg also announced that the Project Santa Cruz, Oculus’ higher-end wireless headset, will ship to developers early next year. It will also include the new and improved wireless controllers.

The Oculus Go will ship in 2018 for AUD$254.
