Recent reports forecast Sony could incorporate an LG Display OLED screen within its forthcoming flagship Xperia smartphone.

The news increases the number of companies who are inking OLED agreements with LG Display. The company reportedly supplies Google’s Pixel 2XL smartphone and is amidst negotiations with Apple.

In recent times, LG Display has heavily invested in its OLED production capacity, in a bid to take on the likes of Samsung Display.

Some sources state Sony’s forthcoming Xperia will feature a flexible OLED screen, used to achieve curved edges.

Consensus is the company will unveil its new Xperia at Mobile World Congress this year, and may potentially feature 18:9 display.

The news expands the companies existing relationship, as Sony already utilises LG Display’s OLED screens for its range of premium TVs.
