Counterpoint’s latest revised data reports HMD sold 4.4 million smartphones in the fourth quarter of 2017, inferring Nokia-branded smartphones outsold HTC, Sony and Google within the quarter.
The results provide Nokia with a 1% share in the global smartphone market – 11th place amongst the world’s best selling brands.
Nokia is reportedly embarking on a resurgence of sorts, ranking No. 3 in the UK for Q4.
According to Counterpoint, in the last three months of 2017 Nokia outsold the following companies:
- HTC
- Sony
- Alcatel
- Lenovo
- OnePlus
- Gionee
- Meizu
- Coolpad
- Asus
For ‘feature phones’ – devices which lack the full functionality of a smartphone – Nokia’s 20.7 million unit sales nabbed it first place within the last three months of 2017.
Concerning the overall global mobile phone market – including feature phones & smartphones – latest numbers rank HMD Global in 6th place, with a 5% market share.
