Samsung announced that it will merge its various Internet of Things services at the Samsung Developer Conference overnight, combining all its IoT supported products under the name “SmartThings Cloud”.

In the past, Samsung products have used SmartThings, Samsung Connect, and ARTIK platforms, and this announcement means that these services will combine into one hub.

SmartThings Cloud will be a new open ecosystem, that links Samsung devices, as well as third-party products together.

Samsung said it will provide “a single, powerful cloud-based hub,”.

Samsung did not elaborate on what the SmartThings Cloud service would entail, but consumers can expect to begin using products with the service beginning early 2018.
