From today ING bank customers and iPhone users are now able Siri to check their account balance without having to press a single button.

Users do not need a pin or to unlock the phone, to retrieve their bank balance all they need to ask is: ‘Siri what is my bank balance?’

According to ING 69 per cent of their customers say they would use this feature if it was available.

Chris Barwick, head of digital and innovation at ING spoke to Gizmodo saying, “This latest development with Siri marks a major milestone in Australian consumer banking as it brings us one huge leap closer to making voice activated transactional banking a reality.

“In the future we want our customers to be able to use Siri for banking transactions such as transferring funds between accounts or making bill payments.”

ING is the first bank in Australia to link a smart assistant to a bank account with prediction other banks will follow in ING’s footsteps.
