A number of Australian banks were hit by a Telstra outage over the weekend with suppliers trying to restore services.

It News says the 27 banks hit with the outage are customers of Aussie banking and IT solutions provider, Data Action.

The banks affected include Qudos Bank, Defence Bank and Bank Australia.

Reports say the problem came from a Telstra outage affecting the IP addresses Data Action hosts for its customers. The Data Action website was also hit by the outage over the same time.

According to reports the outage began early Saturday morning where systems were only restored this morning at 7am AEDT.

Several of those banks reported the outages on their social media pages, providing updates when available.
