Finnish telecom giant, Nokia, has inked a multi-year patent license deal with Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo.

Announced on Nokia’s website, the deal will see Oppo make payments to Nokia for a multi-year license – joining the likes of Samsung, Xiaomi and Huawei, who also use Nokia’s intellectual property.

Nokia affirms “terms of the agreement” will remain confidential between both parties.

Maria Varsellona, Nokia Chief Legal Officer and President of Nokia Technologies, asserts the deal further validates Nokia’s global licensing program, and has welcomed Oppo as a Nokia licensee.

It appears the Chinese vendor will now rely on the world’s largest license holder for mobile connectivity patents.

Despite its relative new entrance to the global smartphone market, Oppo has continued to gain ground, launching a slew of new smartphones this year, including the Find X with a ‘pop up’ camera.
